After a long time, I had not got a chance to write my blogs….but suddenly I remembered this proverb “Take time to smell the roses” meaning it is to encourage ourselves to slow down, appreciate the small pleasures in life and find relaxation in the midst of busyness. It reminds us to prioritize self-care and enjoy the present moment. So, thought of penning this blog for you my loving friends. I am choosing pronunciation as a topic to write. You know what, many a times in the past, I had always cut a sorry figure in front of my daughter where I get corrected for the wrong pronunciation of names. Pronunciation, often overlooked ( by many ) and (always)underestimated, plays a crucial role in effective communication. It is the art of producing sounds, intonations, and stress patterns that convey meaning in spoken language. Proper pronunciation enhances clarity, comprehension, and cultural integration, allowing individuals to connect and express themselves more confidently. In this essay, we will explore the significance of pronunciation and its impact on various aspects of communication.

 

Clarity and Comprehension:

 

The primary purpose of language is to convey information and ideas. Accurate pronunciation ensures clarity, minimizing the chances of misinterpretation or misunderstanding. I seldom seen individuals not able to pronounce the names of customer or important stakeholders in business incorrectly. For example, if the name is RoasanaTerr then we end up in pronouncing it as “rosanaterr” but correct pronunciation is “roh-zah-nah tehr”. Another classic mistake we do. We all know Kevin O’Brien we have always end up in saying “Kevin Obrine” or simply “Kevin” but actually ifyou want to know how his name should have correctly pronounced is like this “KEV-in oh-bree-en”..One more example of our recently joined leader Emma Mcarthy, the correct pronounciationis like this “EH-mahmuh-KAR-thee”.

 

While all the time I am writing about pronounciation, we Indians have our own ways of pronouncing English words. However the thisuniqueness is also there to other Indian languages also. This brings me to our college Biology professor H C Laxman we used to fondly call him as HCL ( Hydrochloric acid 😊) he has very uniquepronounciation….he used to say in our class “Haaarigental”, he actually he wanted to say “Horizontal”. Huljanti Malingraya

Huljanti, one of famous place in three states viz Karnataka, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. This place is famous for a big fair of Lord Mahalingaraya (Lord Shiva). The fair is the main attraction which is on the occasion of Diwali and millions of people worship Lord Mahalingaraya's "Mundas Darshan" on that day.. Its a small village located on a sub river of Bhima named Dodda Nala. It is on Pandharpur-Vijapur Highway and 21 km from Mangalwedha. Commander Abhilash Tomy

It gives me a great pride in remembering that 15th Day of Jan 2017, when I met this great person in Lavasa.I was there on a official workshop where Abhilash sir was invited as chief guest. I was completely unaware of this personality before I heard him giving the speech and telling about circum navigation of the world ( earth ).   Commander Abhilash Tomy is an s an Indian naval officer and yachtsman. In 2013, he became the first Indian to complete a solo, un assisted, non-stop circumnavigation of the globe on INSV Mhadei. He also competed in the 2018 Golden Globe Race. What a phenomenal achievements when you are just 40s and still going for greater heights. I just don’t have enough words to express my feelings. He is not a ordinary soldier, he is champion sailor, decorated Naval officer and he is a ultimate survivor. To me Abhilash Tomy is no less than a miracle.
