OUR UNFORGETTABLE GENERATION.

I belong to a generation when we walked to school & back. Playing hide & seek with friends after dusk. For us Playing carrom  & chess used to be luxury games, making boats and making them float in the rain water accumulated in ditches besides road.

Enjoying missal with masala misal with peanuts  at 50 paise is like big treat from mutyan misal gadi parked outside our school before we enter ground, cycling on the streets, on rent at 25 paise per half  hour and that too if you are taking giddi cycle he used to charge 50 paise per half hour. What a feeling on those drives.. Mind blowing...

We watched hindi movie on DD on every Sunday evening. Just used to pray to get some good movies but alas many times the films were not so good but still we see till "The End". Also, we never thought for a second going in really odd time especially like Benson and hedges series which cricket matches used to start at 4.30 am. I still remember seeing matches along with B V Khudanpur (Bruce Reid) in Bheem Bhattjees house.

We played gully cricket, smashing window panes of our neighbours, who were generous enough to allow us to continue with the game. But I cannot forget that one neighbour again in Darbar galli. We used to call him Naturam Ghodse, I heard he used to be the body gaurd of Jawaharlal Nehru. If someone hits the ball hard it normally lands in Ghodse compound, we all know what will happen next. He used to come out shout at us ruthlessly and call one of us to go to him and  take ball back. Every time he used to cut the ball with knife into two pieces and hold it in such a way that it looks like normal ball but u will realise it's two pieces when u get it in your hand. Probably this is the reason that rule of who so ever hit the ball in his compound is declared out.

Our generation believed in friendship, irrespective of financial status, when we used to contribute money and matter everything just to make sure all in the group enjoys equally be it simple Baarikai, missal or milk ice cream. I guess we were not had that luxury of going to movie or restaurant  only with friends but always made entry into kitchen anytime and any quantity, never used to hesitate to eat full stomach.

Our generation believed in sharing comic books, with each other & sharing our tiffin with friends during breaks at school. I still remember we used to open our tiffin lids and everybody used to put one ghas and soon it used to get full. Not only this we also used to share notes during classes, this year books to next year junior friends. That time I strongly remember 1 June used to be the only shopping day. That day I used to get new uniform new white shoes chappal(Trot) books notebooks pens pencils whatever you need you need to demand only on this day. Not again in that entire year.

A generation where we believed in sharing the simple joys of life, we really had memorable days growing up in Bijapur, which will never be forgotten. I am sure many will agree to this.

Cheers
