83rd Anniversary

Today is 83rd Anniversary of the Mumbai's Iconic Double Decker. Its really proud to say it completes 83years of her Service. Wow.....



I still remember those wonderful days of 1989- 92....where my presence in mumbai along with brothers and sisters living in northern suburbs....these Double Deckers are all time favourite of each and every person living in Mumbai including me. It was amazing to travel in these double deckers whenever opportunity comes. I love those double deckers on SV road betwenn Andheri to Borivli....What were those days...no words to express.

Currently double decker buses are left with a dwindling number of 120 with BEST, Whenever boarding a Double Decker, my first aim is to rush through the stairs and grab that first seat on the upper deck. Sitting exactly above the driver, enjoying the cool breeze entering through the front window. Travelling in a Double Decker is always a memorable experience.

I have not forgotten that Double Decker Bus journey on #138 which depart from CST Bus Stand and go towards Colaba via Nariman Point and Marine Drive. Wow its a dream come true at that time. I remember I had visited LIC Branch No.921 which was behind petit girls school for some work of my sister. It was just a small work and i could finish in 10 mins and after that I had to return to Kandivli. When I was returning I was taking a look at VSNL Huge building on the way to churchgate station. Suddenly i saw this bus and thought to take a drive till the last point where ever it goes. Actually i had no idea whats the route it takes. Unfortunately I could not board the bus due to heavy rush on a working day. Upon asking a gentleman standing in the stop he directed towards VT station and said you can board the bus from the first stop it will be empty and easy to take the top seat. So walked all the way there and boarded the bus. To my wonder when it takes left turn after AIR INDIA building and goes on Marine drive...it was that mesmerising sea side drive...Really great experiecce.

When I was driving on the garden route near CapeTown South Africa, i actually this drive of double decker drive of 30 years back....

I suggest those who are not from Mumbai and never visited Mumbai, should take such drives to experience the best.

Huljanti Malingraya

Huljanti, one of famous place in three states viz Karnataka, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. This place is famous for a big fair of Lord Mahalingaraya (Lord Shiva). The fair is the main attraction which is on the occasion of Diwali and millions of people worship Lord Mahalingaraya's "Mundas Darshan" on that day.. Its a small village located on a sub river of Bhima named Dodda Nala. It is on Pandharpur-Vijapur Highway and 21 km from Mangalwedha. I would like to emphasize on the special attraction "Mundaas Darshan" in this post. Mundaas is a fine woven cloth with the most beutiful and unique design in the world. It's percieved that the design pattern color etc visible on mundaas are used for waether, rain crops and prosperity for the coming year. Commander Abhilash Tomy

It gives me a great pride in remembering that 15th Day of Jan 2017, when I met this great person in Lavasa.I was there on a official workshop where Abhilash sir was invited as chief guest. I was completely unaware of this personality before I heard him giving the speech and telling about circum navigation of the world ( earth ).   Commander Abhilash Tomy is an s an Indian naval officer and yachtsman. In 2013, he became the first Indian to complete a solo, un assisted, non-stop circumnavigation of the globe on INSV Mhadei. He also competed in the 2018 Golden Globe Race. What a phenomenal achievements when you are just 40s and still going for greater heights. I just don’t have enough words to express my feelings. He is not a ordinary soldier, he is champion sailor, decorated Naval officer and he is a ultimate survivor. To me Abhilash Tomy is no less than a miracle.
